What Ohio asks
Ohio parents who home educate send a notice to their school district superintendent within 5 days of starting (or of moving or withdrawing from school) and again by August 30 every year, with an assurance that the child is taught English language arts, math, science, history, government and social studies. Ohio law sets no required days or hours, tests, records or teacher qualifications for home education.
School age: Ages 6–17. Compulsory school age is between 6 and 18 (until the 18th birthday). A child under 6 who is enrolled in kindergarten is also of compulsory school age unless the parent formally withdraws the child from kindergarten.
